The Giggle Factory!

Ok short post tonight - we just got back from a whirlwind trip up North!

Thought this might help ease everyone's pain of heading into another work week! :)

Hope this video makes you giggle too! (taken with my cell phone so not great quality but you get the picture!)

Hitting the Bottle

In case you didn't see it on Facebook - here is a photo of the little guy who has officially decided that he should have control over his bottle and milk. (Photo was taken with my cell phone so sorry the quality isn't better - I grabbed what I found first to be sure we got a picture!)

Have a great weekend everyone!

SoxFest 2010

Interesting in learning or seeing more of Soxfest 2010?

Here is a great recap video on the White Sox webpage of the weekend:

And since I forgot to mention this in my last was the BEST question asked at a panel I attended. This little maybe 6 year old boy walks up to the mic when there was a panel full of players and says "Is it true baseball players get a lot of girls" - hahahaha! The room erupted and all refused to answer it but one player jumped off the stage and went down and gave the kid a high five. Steve Stone, the one moderating that session says "to answer the question for the players - the married ones never do; the single ones may meet a girl or two but they definitely only go for the smartest, most intelligent ones" Ha!

Put it on the board......YEAH!

Well for those that are not aware my dad is a lifelong Chicago White Sox Fan (If you didn't know you must be hiding under a rock or you just don't know my dad) :)

He's a die-hard and has fantastic memories of going to Comiskey Park with my Grandpa Coughlin growing up and even great memories of taking his own kids to White Sox games. We were blessed as children to have parents that really truly wanted us exposed to everything. I hope if there is one thing I can do for Connor it will be to expose him to EVERYTHING I can. We were little kids and going to the theater in Chicago, fancy restaurants, museums, sporting events, traveling, etc. So I've come to appreciate those time where they packed us in the van and we drove the hour and 30 minutes to the South Side to catch a game with the guys in Black and White.

Baseball is a passion of my dads - the guy is a work-aholic so when he gets an outlet that he truly enjoys and has him stop to think about something other than work - it's a success. For Christmas this year we all chipped in and got him a weekend in Chicago to attend Soxfest 2010. It's a weekend full of events, seminars, autographs, etc. where you can mingle with the players and coaches. I had the distinct honor to attend the event with my dad this last weekend; held at the Palmer House Hilton in Downtown Chicago. What a special few days for us!

Here are a few pictures from our special few days:

Might be hard to see but this is a picture of my dad asking AJ Pierzynski (the catcher) a question at one of the panels.

AJ responding to Dad - the whole room was laughing (any surprise?!?)

The voices of the Chicago White Sox: Steve Stone (L) and Ken Harrelson (aka The Hawk)

This was at a panel with the coaches - I think we laughed for 3/4 of the time. The 3rd base coach Jeff Cox (one right) - pictured here with another member of the coaching staff Mark Salas

Harold Baines (L) and Greg Walker (batting coach) on the panel. It was at this time that I discovered that Greg Walker was the one who walked by Connor and I and by the looks everyone around us were giving him I knew he was someone 'important' but had no clue who he was - opps! :)

Juan Pierre (L) who is just joining the Sox from the Dodgers - commentator and former player Darrin Jackson (C) - Gordon Beckham (R) who will play 2nd base this year for the Sox at the young age of 23. This was an awesome session - three definite class acts. (And not to hard on the eyes either - ha!)

One really happy Grandpa Jim!

Down for the count

Well I suppose it's to my readers advantage that I am down for the count today - as its giving me a (much needed) chance to update the blog. I pulled a muscle in my lower back on the train on Sunday and did something to aggravate it yesterday afternoon and by last night I was pretty much not able to move.

Gosh - I officially have deepest sympathy for anyone that has had back troubles (SORRY DAD!) because you seriously cannot move without being in pain. You can't stand, walk, lay down, sit...ANYTHING without this shooting pain. When I woke up this morning the pain had started to move down my whole left side, including shooting pain down my leg. Hard to describe the pain - but the only thing I've ever experienced more painful has been NATURAL yes, very painful.

My doctor isn't in on Wednesdays so back to the walk in clinic doctor I went (not gonna lie the last time I was at the walk in clinic I was told I was I got some interesting emotions while waiting) and was basically told what I already knew - I have pulled a muscle and I'm experiencing some spasms and straight pain as a result. (Gee - so glad I paid money for that) The hard part is there isn't much they can do for you other than pain meds and to relax.

I'm now waiting to hear from my OB on what I can take to help alleviate the pain while still nursing or if this might cause us to move to all formula - ugh!

Wish me a speedy recovery and/or just comfort/to find a spot on can sit or lay in without pain - ha!

Here's what Connor thinks about his mom not being able to pick him up.....(doesn't he look worried?!?)

My reading Grace....

My niece Grace seems to really enjoys her books. We're still working on Connor - but until then I thought this was a great picture of Grace and her Grandma reading before bedtime!

Please hold Grandma...I must pose for Aunt Julie (love her little face!)

Flashback Friday

Well it was a year ago (two days ago) that I found out I was pregnant! What a year it has been?!?

In case you never heard the story - I had been sick, with a cold for the several days leading up to 1/20/09. I was running a fever, sore throat, coughing up a storm. I had been to Minneapolis the weekend prior for Jill Bean's baby shower and by that Sunday I was laying on my sisters couch feeling pretty miserable. I remember my brother in law saying "are you sure you aren't pregnant" and laughing (as Tracy had just announced she was pregnant). It was all a good joke - we laughed and I insisted that no I was not pregnant.

I had taken off 3 sicks days from work those next few days (pretty unusual for me) and by day 3 after a friend had been diagnosed with strep throat I thought I better go and get checked out. My Doctor is amazing, she is the most wonderful, caring woman but because of that...she's virtually impossible to get into unless it's an emergency or you have to wait a few weeks for an appointment. So...Dr. Ness was booked up so I decided to see a walk in doctor at her same clinic that day.

I went in, meet with a doctor with a very heavy Indian dialect (which I only mention because she was really hard to understand) and she had a variety of testing done for my various symptoms. The doctor comes back in and very calmly and matter of factly sits down and says "Well Julie, you don't have strep but you are pregnant" Those who know me best know when I have extreme nerves I do one of two things 1 - I throw up or 2 - I start laughing. So I started laughing - I think the doctor was a bit taken back by that. So I said to her "what now?" and she says (oh so calmly) "well if your sore throat persists and is still here next week come back in." So I (not so calmly) say "yeah, I'm not really worried about the sore throat anymore!" I can remember this day like it was yesterday and saying to my mom "She didn't even give me a brochure" - wouldn't you think when they tell you that you are pregnant there is something they could give you that says what the heck you're supposed to do now - Ha! I can laugh now - at the moment not so much.

The day will forever be ingrained in my head and the date will never be forgotten as it was the same day Barack Obama was swore into office as the 44th President of the United States of America.

Now that my friends - is a moment in history I will not soon forget.....

Posting Comments

Several people have emailed me that they are having trouble posting comments.

It's hard for me to tell exactly what you see since I am the admin of the page.

Here is what you should be able to do:

  • Click on the Comment box at the end of the post

  • There should be a drop down menu that says "Comment As" and you want to select "Anonymous"

  • Then you should just be able to hit publish for it to work

  • If you are trying to "Comment As" from a google address or otherwise you need to click "Preview" first and type in the code and then it will publish

If you are going to post anonymous and feel so inclined just type your name at the end of your comment so we know who it's from.

4 months/5 months

Here was a video we took on our way to church while Tracy, Grace, Connor and I were in Peru in early January. Both are awesome little church-goers. Connor normally sleeps thru church but this week he was wide awake and sat contently taking it all in.

Anyways - you all may find this video boring but I just wanted to document what the two of them looked like and did at 4 months and 5 months age.

I should also note that Dan was in Peru with us for this visit but had just had his wisdom teeth pulled so he wasn't with us at church. He was a real trooper through it all and I'm happy to say *knock on wood* he has had no complications. He's gonna kill me for posting this photo but I did document him right after the surgery - his poor puffy cheeks! When I remind him that I have video of him trying to tell me he wants me to buy him "Fiesty Grape" Gatorade - he'll appreciate that all I've done is post this one photo - ha! Believe me - I'm not insensitive but it was REALLY funny. :)

No more wisdom teeth for the Dano!

Bath Time with Mimi!

During our 24 hour whirlwind trip to Menomonie to hang out with the Bean's after Christmas - we were lucky enough to meet Dan's Cousin Andy's beautiful little girl Mimi! She was born in April and if you can believe it this was the first time we were meeting her!
We had a wonderful stay (our sledding video is proof of just a few of the good times!) and Mimi and Connor were lucky enough to have baths by their Grandma's in Aunt Cheryl's big kitchen sink! Connor didn't quite know what to think of Mimi - she was splashing around, standing, grabbing at the faucet and he wasn't really sure what was going on! :) Some day he'll be right in there with her - they are sure to have some good times and great memories to come together!
Mimi's grandma is Dan's Aunt Cheryl and she is Diane's (Dan's mom) sister. Cheryl and Diane were pregnant together with Andy and Dan and I imagine it's sort of surreal now to have these two grand-babies so close in age!

Here are a few pictures - ENJOY!
"Where are you taking me" - Connor
"Hey Connor, don't worry about your Bumbo - want to get a bath?" - Mimi

"Whatcha doing Grandma" - Connor
"Standing is my new thing - please don't lay me down Grandma" - Mimi
"What is Mimi doing? Why does she keep standing? Why can't I do that?" - Connor
"Woo-hoo - I love baths at my Grandma's - if I could only figure out how to turn this faucet on?!?" - Mimi
"Connor - do you see the shampoo on the window sill - we could make a real mess here if I could just grab it" - Mimi
"Don't worry - we're so cute; they won't care if we splash around a little bit" - Mimi
In deep thought......
"Hey - what's going on over there Cuz Con" - Mimi
"I'm just hanging out in Aunt Cheryl's sink - getting myself a bath" - Connor
"It's over already?!?" - Connor
"Now what Connor? Let's play!" - Mimi

A little laughter caught on tape.

Connor is starting to laugh. You'll get a little hint of it in this video.

So he is still a little camera shy and once the cameras are turned on he just stares at the camera.
Happy watching...
Dano ;-)

My niece Grace is starting to 'teeth' - I know there are a bunch of Mom's/child caretakers out there reading this blog - any recommendations we can give Tracy to help Grace out?

You can post as comments or shoot me an email at

Well I've been a bad little blogger this week - I don't really have any excuses other than by the time I get home from work the last thing I want to do is get on the computer again.

So just so all my faithful readers at least get a picture until I can sort thru other photos taken this weekend.....on Tuesday night we headed to our friends Eric and Shelley. We had some dinner and played most of the night! Abby and I (she will be 3 in March) ran so many laps around that house I think I got a great work out - hehe! Nate (7.5 months) is crawling all over the place and started to pull himself up - so fun to see!

Here is me and Abby taking a break from our running to do some coloring/putting a lovely Dora puzzle together!
Now here is the real shocker - so Connor and Nate are almost the same size. Check out the photo below - Nate is 6.5 months and Connor is 4.5 months and he's gaining on him fast. So much for being able to share clothes - as Eric stated we may be sending clothes Connor outgrows to them vs. the other way around!
Was a fun night with some great friends - if only Matt and Shelley could have gotten off work a little earlier...hopefully next time!
