My Little Fish!

Connor has really been enjoying swim lessons.  Mr. Laid Back himself seems to really enjoying the soothing nature of the water :)

If you didn't hear - at the very first swim lesson I came with my camera in hand and got three shots before a lifeguard kindly told me they don't allow photos in the pool for privacy reasons.  Booo!  What is a mom to do who really truly just wants to document her childs life?!?  Insert camera phone ;)

So the photo quality isn't great - but you get the picture.

Learning all about floating.....Can you say Buddha?

Have a great weekend!

It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere

Have I ever mentioned how wonderfully blessed we have been to have such wonderful friends?  If not - I should be writing about them all day long and all they do for us.

We've been fortunate to be able to surround ourselves with such giving, thoughtful, supportive and truly inspirational people.  Sometimes between schedules, work trips, personal trips, geography and just plain the Paulsruds ALWAYS being out of town we don't always get to see everyone as much as we would like.  Last Friday we were in town and determined to take advantage of it and spent the evening with a few of our best friends in Milwaukee.

So Friday after work - we hit one of our old stomping grounds Leff's Luckytown in Wauwatosa.  (http://leffs.com/leffs/) We used to play in a kickball league on Friday's that was sponsored by Leff's and spent many a Friday evenings in Leff's.  When I moved to Milwaukee I LOVED this bar - it reminded me of home.  Always jam packed with people - great tunes playing for the juke box - old bar - tiny bathrooms - cold beer - great fried food and definitely nothing fancy.  (In fact one of it's claims to fame is the "Largest Urinal in Town" - I mean it doesn't get any classier than that does it?) Friday nights were filled with celebrating the games "MVP", reminiscing about a usual team loss, telling stories, singing loudly with the juke box, drinking our fair share of Leff's pitchers and definitely laughing...lots and lots of laughing.

So many great memories.  I guess it's only fitting that last year when I was prego - Leff's and I both went thru some changes.  Much to my delight they added an addition to the bar.

Most would be concerned it would lose it's charm or charcter.  While it's different...so I am.  Instead of looking for happy hour specials on Friday afternoon - Mollie, Jenny and I were trying to decide where we could go that was smoke free and Connor could come - ha!  (Maybe I should make particular note to one part of this...finding a place that is smoke-free.  Wisconsin is NOT a smoke free state right now.  My guess is that smoking in restaurants and bars will be completely obsolete for as long as Connor will be able to remember....)

My how your life can change so much in such a short time! :)  So off we went to our old stomping grounds - sitting in the 'new' part of the bar.  Enjoying those same Leff's pitchers...that same fried food and although different....delightful just the same.

Though not all of us got to enjoy the fried food.....

It was a great night filled with lots of laughter, stories, talks about work, childbirth, relationships, vacations, family and gossip.....oh there is always gossip.  And well - we didn't celebrate an MVP but if you had known the traditions of celebrating MVP - we are probably all little better off ;)

To ALL of my friends - not just those with us last Friday from NY to GA to NJ to IL to WI to MN to CA to AZ and everywhere in between thanks for being a part of our lives you enrich it in more ways than you know.

Now....is it Friday yet? Maybe not...but it IS 5 O'Clock somewhere....

Vegetable du Jour

So today...a pop quiz of sorts.....can you guess what is what in the below?  Here is a hint - one is butternut squash - one is acorn squash and one is carrots.

I can tell you one thing....Connor loves all three!

Welcome Clark!

Our dear friends Chris and Erin Happ welcomed Clark Peter yesterday (04/26/2010) into the world at 6:38 PM. Clark made it a long day for his Mom and Dad but was born a very healthy 7 lbs. 11 oz. and 20.5 inches.

Here is a picture of Chris and Erin at TJ and Hillary's wedding on 4/3/2010 - doesn't she look fabulous?!?

We're so happy for them and are thrilled to welcome another little boy to our crew!
Can't wait to meet you Clark!  Much love to the entire Happ family!

G&G Visit and Play

April 8 -11th Mike and Diane came to Milwaukee to visit us and babysit Connor so Dan and I could spend Saturday night in Chicago.  We always appreciate it when they make the journey down to visit us!

Diane took some great pictures and I wanted to be sure I documented all the fun things Connor got to do with his G&G Paulsrud.  Next time we'll have to be sure Mike takes at least one photo with Diane in it.... :)

Grandpa was trying to teach Connor how to crawl

They look pretty happy together, don't they?
He always goes for the glasses....watch out!

Tickle Monster

Then G&G took you for a walk!

One last picture of you in the wagon - just had to post - was too darn cute not to!

Mr. Photogenic

So I remember someone once telling me - don't go overboard with your first child - otherwise when you have a second you'll have to try to live up to it!  Well if there is one thing we've done well (and some might say overboard) it's documenting Connor's life in photos.  Our friends Phil and Andrea are documenting Connor's first year - so here is Connor at his 7 month shoot with Phil and Andrea!

They are patient
They are kind
They are definitely talented

I'd like to say these are a few of my favorites - but really there are so many great ones I don't even want to put that title on these.  So let's just say here are a few they took!

The famous "Connor" hat

People always ask "Is he always this happy" and really I can truly say - most of the time he is

Sitting up so good - like a big boy!

Tootsies for Aunt Cheryl

And this may seem wrong - but I LOVE this photo.  Somehow I feel like it captures an emotion - I think it's great!

A Great Lake!

If you've never been to Milwaukee it really is a beautiful city. We are fortunate enough to live near Lake Michigan one of 5 Great Lakes.  On Sunday Connor and I went to church and then decided to hit the lakefront for a stroll.  It was a beautiful day!  A few fun facts about Lake Michigan is that it is the only Great Lake completely in the US and is slightly smaller than the state of West Virginia!

We are blessed to live in a city with some many wonderful things to do, see and enjoy!

Splish Splash

Saturday night Connor got his usual bath. He's at a fun age where he's discovering the things around him.
Hmm...what's this?
Ohhh....a duckie.....
And you say I can splash this water around?

Ok - I'll let you take a video Mom if you promise not to show it when Iget older...ok (wink* wink*) Enjoy! :)

Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh My!

On Saturday morning Dan was up at the crack of dawn to head north to the International Inline Complex that is trying to re-open in northern WI. (near Couderay, WI for those from up in that neck of the woods!) Dan drove to Eau Claire and then hitched a ride the rest of the way with his good friend Mat Larson and his son Matthew. They did a variety of things on the property from painting to clearing sidewalks to removing bolts from old fencing. Was a busy few days for them but sounds like lots of fun was had - oh and did I mention they got to get on the track for a few laps ;)
A few shots of Mat and Dan on the track

Wasn't much up there for Connor and I to do and I can honestly say that have 7 weeks of not being home for a full weekend it was kind of nice to just be home. So Frkol came over and brought us breakfast and then we headed to the Milwaukee Zoo! We got a "Zoo Pass" from my parents for Christmas which included parking (yah! thanks Mom and Dad). This was our first trip and tons of fun - it was a beauitful day (a bit windy but sunny). It was also Girl Scout Day at the Milwaukee Zoo - they had stations set up around the zoo for them to complete different tasks to earn patches. So you might a imagine us + a zillion little girls running around. Quite entertaining.
We met up with my friend Mollie - her nephew Tyler was in town and her sister Amanda. Connor and Amanda had matching hair!
Mollie and Tyler in their 'vests'
Connor rocking his cool shades!
Such cute giraffes! :)
Hanging with Aunt Nicole and a few elephants

Then we hit the train for a ride around the zoo!
And then it was time to say good-bye
And off to the next adventure we go.....
