Sometimes you go outside to take the trash out and have to run back in to grab kids in their jammies.

What a beautiful rainbow it was - which is a good reminder of the beautiful moments that can occur amongst a very wet and rainy summer.

Camp out

Connor and I (Julie) had our first " camp out" on Saturday night. It was a beautiful night and he had the idea we should sleep in my parents porch. So we pulled out the sleeping bag and did just that!

Fine night for me and my buddy.

This was him in the morning......

Connor has proved a hard name for Kendall - she didn't even really give him a short name or attempt to say his name until today!

Comes out more like "Tonnor" but we'll take it! The first time Connor heard it he was pretty excited!

Lovely Locks

This kid is on a regular hair cut regime to keep it tame - thankfully he doesn't mind it!

Boy oh boy it has been a rough year for sickness for us.

Buggie has been fighting...well...a bug!

But she's still cute and her hair looking great after 4 baths in about a 8 hour period :)

Good thing she has Bubble Guppies to keep her happy!

Why Not?

I never was the person who always wanted to be a stay at home Mom. I have such admiration for those that do (and those that don't) because I can see and respect things from both sides.

When I made a career change, wow almost three years ago now, to leave corporate America it was a transition but has brought so much more balance and happiness to my life.

That being said - there are still moments where I long for a little more time with my kids and a little less feeling the need to rush them out the door in the morning and then rush to feed and bath them when they get home.

Today was a fluke day that offered me the chance to spend some extra hours with my kiddos and it was raining and well...we still have a drainage issue in the back yard but you know what...this is what four year olds SHOULD be doing.

Haven't laughed this hard in a while.

These are the days I hope to never forget.....and I breath a little easier knowing these opportunities are more frequent than ever.

We always love any excuse to get together with our family. Me and the kiddos road tripped to Dubuque over the weekend for my cousin Natalie's shower and bachelorette party in Galena. It was a quick trip but a fun filled 24 hours.

Riley - Nora - Kendall

Me and the bride to be!

Kendall discovered Betty Jane mints and was storing them like a chipmunk before winter!

No pictures of Connor but he made friends with Uncle Dans neighbor Trevor and they played baseball literally all day long! Wish we had a neighbor like that...Connor was in heaven and a sweaty mess at the end of the day! What a day!

Just an average Thursday night - playing night game baseball and climbing on the play set.

My favorite moment of the night was when Kendall was heading to the play set and was not sure about the grass or walking any further in her bare feet and Connor from on top of the play set yells -

"Kendall it's ok - you're fine Kendall, be brave - you can do it, be brave"

Warmed my heart

One year ago

One year ago I met the women in the top half of this picture at an event in Madison, WI. To this day I could not even tell you what possessed me to go this event - but some force pushed me out of my comfort zone and I went.

The event opened my eyes to an opportunity - to make an impact - to lead the life I've been seeking. I didn't know how I was going to do it but my eyes and ears were open when most would have kept them closed or thought well I can't do that or that's great but this isn't for me.

This weekend I was at another event with these same two women. This picture is just a small representation of the changes we have all made in 12 months time.

Wouldn't change a moment of it. One of the leaders in our company suggested that the truth is this company is a "personal development program with a compensation plan" and I feel so strongly that this is true. I am who I was 12 months ago - I am just a better version of that person.

There isn't anyone I wouldn't wish to have this same experience - you just have to be willing to be open to listening.

Our lives continue to change and evolve but far more gratifying is how we are watching our impact changing other people's lives.

Swim lesson night is the favorite night of the week for these kids!

Both are doing awesome! It was safety week so they were teaching the kids about life jackets and jumping in and flipping over to floating!

Horrible glare since I'm behind glass but Connor is doing the back float all on his own there in the middle!
